What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matter compared to what lies within us

What Is Coaching?

Coaching is a powerful process of tapping into a person’s potential so they can elevate their performance or level of success. A coach is someone who does not provide advice or direct strategies for their client. We are living in a world where we can find a step by step “how to” guide for almost anything we want to do in 3 clicks or less. Most of us know WHAT we need to do, we just don’t always know why we do what we do even though we know what we know. A coach believes that each person has all of the answers they will ever need inside of them. The expertise a coach will provide is to hold space for their client to clear out all of the noise, clutter and confusion that surrounds them to identify what they need to do for their own happiness and success. A coach asks powerful questions to go deep into what is driving their client’s behavior and what is truly holding them back. The client comes up with their own plan of action based on where they are at in their journey and where they desire to go in the future. Once the plan of action is created, a coach provides support, encouragement and acts as an accountability partner to ensure the client takes continuous action to achieve their desired results.

The Joyful Roots Coaching 4 Step Process

Step 1- Identify what it is that you want. Most people by adulthood have completely lost touch with what they actually want. Their dreams and desires are buried so deep inside of them they forget what it is like to even want anymore.

Step 2- Understand why it is that you want what you want. In this step we explore 2 fundamental questions:

Do you truly want it? Many people who have lost touch with what they really want wind up chasing the dreams of others, which can leave them feeling burned out and unfulfilled. It’s very important to weed out what goals in our lives are “shoulds” vs “desires”.

Do you want it enough to do what needs to be done? Many of us have things we would like to have, but we don’t always want them enough to do the hard things required to get them. It’s extremely important to identify where your dream fits into this equation. If your why isn’t very big, perhaps you should move on and focus your attention elsewhere. But if your why is big enough, it will keep you going when you hit challenges along your journey to greatness.

Step 3- What is holding you back?

Identify what is standing in the way between you and your dream, so you can create an action plan to navigate around those obstacles. Do you need more time, money or energy to move forward? Is the fear of failure, fear of success, or fear of getting out of your comfort zone the real culprit standing in your way? Whatever it is, when you name it you can figure out a way around it!

Step 4- What do you need to do to get it?

Create a strategy and take action! Move in the direction of your dream. Create goals and deadlines. Embrace failure. Fall down as many times as you need to and don’t let it stop you. Find people, consequences and strategies to hold you accountable. Don’t stop until you are at the finish line!
